Heroes: Origins officially scrapped
Heroes: Origins, the much anticipated spinoff/side-project said to be featuring a new hero each week and calling on the powers of some of Hollywood’s most creative minds has been officially dealt the final blow. Ben Silverman, co-chairman of NBC, said that the Origins project is now officially scrapped and noted that NBC felt like the project would be too taxing on the Heroes creative team and that it would be better for the main show not to spread themselves too thin.
The WGA strike first docked the project in November, but now it seems like it wont enough support to get off of the ground again. It’s a shame to see such a great idea go to waste, but we have high hopes that more interesting collaboration projects in the same spirit as “Origins” will show up again in the future.

wow, I would have loved to have seen this air! It would have proven itself to be a great project indeed! But I thought the episodes would consist of guest writters, how would that be taxing for the regular writing crew? And if so, couldnt they cut it down to once every two weeks?
I really would have liked to see Kevin Smith direct an episode of Heroes Origins… Oh Well… I guess it’s better they focus on the show. Thanks for the news! Love the podcast!
This is a shame. However, I guess if it results in things picking up in the Villians season, then it’ll be worth it.
You’ve got a great podcast going. Thank you very much for that.
well maybe after another great season, NBC will change their mind…
If Origins doesn’t get off the drawing board, perhaps we’ll see some of that material in the graphic novels or tie-in novels.
That’s too bad about Origins, but did you guys see this about webisodes this summer?

Oh well may be next year. I was hoping it might be picked up this year.
I heard last week that BBC in the UK are going to show Heroes: Origins on BBC TWO later in the year. Were they lying?
